Baked Breaded Porkchops, like Mom used to make

Ingredients:
  • 4, as needed, lean center-cut pork chops, 1/2-inch thick
  • 1 Cup all purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp skim milk
  • 1 Cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • nonstick spray coating (olive oil preferred)

  • Steps:
  • Trim fat from chops and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Arrange 3 bowls for breading, containing:
  • 1) Flour
  • 2) Lightly beaten egg and skim milk.
  • 3) Bread crumbs and seasonings.
  • Spray a 9xl3-inch baking pan with nonstick spray coating. Heat oven to 375 F.
  • Bread chops, 1 at a time by; coating thoroughly with flour (shake off extra);
  • Dipping in egg mixture; and coating thoroughly with bread crumb and seasoning mixture (may press breading into chops).
  • Place chops in pan and bake in 375 F oven for 30 minutes. Turn chops and bake 15 minutes longer.
  • Note: Works well for chicken and fish with cooking time adjusted accordingly.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, pressure cooked green beans, and applesauce.
